Hi ThomasW or anyone else. Has anyone tried out this Technical Hi-Fi X5000 using the Blue Ice chipset? They look very attractive at the price and have RCA inputs also. I've heard good things about the Blue Ice amplifier design in general but nothing about this amp. Anyone with experience? www.123dj.com/amps/technicalhifi/x5000.htmlJohn

You might search avsforum thread "amps recievers and processors" with blue ice under search. Thats a nice price and those amps looks sweet. ( You probably wouldn't really want to hide those amps)

I scanned the AVS threads, this looks like the standard situation with so called 'DJ' amps. Goofy peak power ratings, 1% distortion figures, the company was changing the specs on the fly. So probably not the best choice.....

I was looking into these amps myself. I called the company and the "Director of Sales" had no clue as to how they performed...or more likely he didn't want to answer my questions directly. He forwarded me off to someone in their "technical" department, and that person never got back to me. I actually made a point to leave him a voice mail and send him an email once a week for about a month...needless to say I didn't buy anything from them. I ended up talking with a pro audio supplier out of Indiana, and he told me that Technical HIFI completely fudged their specs and that none of them performed as stated...and he carried their stuff. He said he couldn't recommend them, even the more expensive amps.
