Hello all, I'm just breaking into my first IB. I've got a 12" Car woofer mounted in the lounge ceiling and uses the bedroom above. I'm using a Stereo to mono mixer from Rod Elliott and a 24db lo pass filter at 40 hz of the Linkwitz variety driving a car amp in bridge mode. Crude and cheap, but boy does it go some. I thought the bass was good until the frequency dropped and my windows rattled Of course, the analougue circuitry goes so far and you guys use the likes of BEHRINGER's FEEDBACK DESTROYER PRO DSP1124P, a unit out of reach at the mo, baby on the way ;D. What else is out there that I could use? Cheers Mike

Hello ThomasW, From what I've found so far sir, its seems car EQ is either Graphic EQ or expensive DSP types. I keep coming back to this sound.westhost.com/project28.htmbut, I'm concerned about its ability, he says, "Parametric equalizers are normally quite complex, and allow for variable Q (Quality factor), so the peak or dip can be made sharp or broad. This unit does not allow this, but the Q will vary as the amount of equalization is varied." Also I see, home.comcast.net/~thomasw-2/Chasw98HALF-SUBproject.htmlcould these be combined? regards Mike

I don't know about Behringer prices in the UK, but in the US we couldn't build Rod Elliots device for that much less than the cost of a BFD. They could be combined but there are no circuit boards available. And we probably won't do a board run given retail devices available for less money than it would cost to build the HALF... www.reckhorn.com/index.php?ln=en&prod=b1www.edesignaudio.com/product_info.php?cPath=2_123&products_id=657

Hello. An update. This is my new circuit. By mikeezpic at 2009-08-08 My daughter arrived May 21 2008 and after doing all the newborn stuff, I'm getting back to my IB. I've had a lot of problems, when really low stuff plays through from the TV. Any explosion, engine rumble and stuff like that creates a lot of distortion. I think my end stops are knocking I added a hi pass filter and lowered the lo pass, because I still got a lot of audible bass. If only I could cut the distortion without losing gain Mike

Congrats on the baby.....
You can play with all the electronics you want but the problem won't be solved until you have much more swept volume. A single 12 just doesn't cut it in the world of IB subs.
I'm amazed the driver has lasted this long.
