Can the magnets on 2 18's cause interference in a front channel speaker if that speaker is about 18" away from the rear of the drivers? I have my mains installed into the wall, and I get some interference from the FR channel - at first I thought it was a ground loop, but it's not (I've troubleshot ground loops to death) - I have no noise from any other speakers except the one next to the IB. So my last guess is that the massive magnets on the 18's are causing some sort of magnetic interference. Is that possible?
Thanks, Brian

I can't imagine that scenerio at all. The magnets could cause some picture distortion on a CRT at that distance, but not interfere with the magnetic field of another speaker.
What could be happening with a wall mounted speaker that has its cone in the same enclosure with large bass drivers (the back side of an IB) is that the bass pressure waves could modulate the smaller cone (which is why many speakers with large bass drivers have the midrange isolated in its own sub-enclosure in the cabinet) and cause "interference".
But in an IB setup (assuming a very large space behind the drivers) I don't think the pressure difference between the front and back side of the cone is large enough to cause this.
Can you describe what this interference is doing?

Try switching the left and right out on your receiver and see if that changes anything.

I've never heard of a magnet causing interference with the feed to a speaker. If it did all the wires inside a box speaker would have problems.
Usually interference with a speaker signal is caused by the speaker wire running too close to an AC line. That kind of interference is not a standard ground loop. Signal wires need to cross AC power lines at 90 degrees.

I'll look at everything again. I'm grasping at straws here, I just wanted to know what your perspectives were.
I've ruled out electrical wires, since the speaker connections and amps are behind a wall, in a pseudo audio closet, I am able to route pretty much any way I want, and I avoided all electrical wires. The only thing even near the path is the IB, which is why I figured I'd ask the question.
Thanks for the help.
