Oops. I posted before I realized that there were 8 more pages of information. So it looks like they make very good IBs. Dang, I sure wish I had audio money available. Would love to play with these babies. mike

FYI, the mounting diameter on these is slightly more than 18 1/8''. I used my jasper jig to make a perfect 18 1/8'' hole and it was slightly too small. I cut off about 1/32 around the edge and the driver dropped right in. So I would suggest an 18 3/16'' rabbit to counter sink the driver.

Don't the 18s have a 16 11/16 mount diameter? and a 18 1/8" outside Diameter? Please clarify?
I have routed my holes already before I have received my 18s, Im hoping they fit.
Nevermind the above, I see you are counter sinking (Cool Idea though for me!!).
Was the 16 11/16" size accurate though?

I just got mine last night and measured them.
16-11/16" is the size to make the hole, the surround is a hair smaller than that.
18-1/8" works to seat the neoprene gasket (which is not removable.) If you want to countersink down past the frame, you'll need to cut out a bit wider.

The MJ18"s are still offered by Mach 5.
There are 1/2 dozen or so IB's using them.
They no longer get much press due to price increases and competition from other vendors and from Mach 5's newer higher excursion 18"

Whilst the [IXL-18.4] seems to have 4.5ltr Vd, this is only about same as the 15" Tempest X.

They look quite similar except for Sd and bragging rights to 18" drivers.
I'm sure Thomas (or others) will correct me if I'm wrong but I value cone area over Xmax if the total displacement is similar.
I'd rather move a lot of air without visibly moving the cones than have fewer or smaller drivers thrashing backwards and forwards by a couple of inches.
