Mark,
I know you probably don't have exact dates on the new 18's but any ballpark ideas on the month you might see them arrive? I haven't even started contruction on the basement theater but am trying to get ideas lined up for my equipment.
Thanks!
Tyler

Hi Naug, if you mean the MJ's they're in stock now.
Hi Tyler, I cannot say exactly when at this point, as I have yet to receive the prototype. If there are changes to be made then delays are certain.
I'll know more when I receive it.
Best, Mark

Mark, I know the expected availability date for your IB prototype is up in the air; dare I ask you to give us an estimated price?
Right now I'm debating between these guys and the customized Q18 from FiCarAudio. Specs look to be about the same, just curious if you'll be able to beat $309 shipped. An "I don't know yet' is perfectly acceptable since I probably won't be ready to order until about Christmas when my bonus money comes in.
Your cheaper line isn't an option for me because 2 18's is all I'll be able to squeeze into my attic given WAF constraints and thus I'll need as much xmax as I can get out of my drivers.

Oh, the pressure... I'll go out on a limb and say 'yup'. By the time they are ready, I'll have a dealer south of 49, so if you live down there, shipping should be cheaper. But again, I'll have a more definitive answer when I receive the prototype. Best, Mark

I'll be receiving the prototype soon. Some last minute adjustments had to be made so it took longer than anticipated.
If she pans out, then things will be finalized.

Let me expand on that a bit...
The prototype is coming, but testing has to be done prior to finalizing. This can take a few weeks. If all is ok, I'll request a batch done up. By then, SSA in MD should be on-line to receive them. Pricing will be finalized at that time as well.
At best, we could be looking into March before we start shipping them. For those of you who are waiting, I'll do my best to provide you with the results of the proto asap.
Best to all, Mark

Hahahahaha!!! If only! ;D ;D ;D Guess I should be more specific ay? The guys there are like me - make enough to pay for the website and have fun with the toys (keep them darn prices down!). SSA is more car audio related, but they host the Mach 5, SoundSplinter and Fi forums so they're cool. www.soundsolutionsaudio.comBest, Mark

Are they in MD? Their website says they started in upstate NY, but I couldn't find a brick & mortar address (and when I googled, I got the "other" SSA near the top of the list) - I'm just north of DC in MD, so would be nice to have a local supply

Hi Jim,
They're in Maryland. I would assume what you're seeing is some old(er) info that hasn't been updated.
If it isn't in your backyard, the shipping will still be cheap!

Hi Mark,
I live in Maryland as well, do you know the city SSA is located in?
Also, have the specs been finalized on the upcoming 18" driver? In particular, I'm mostly concerned with the Vas value (549l per the preliminary spec?) as I have limited space for my IB.
Thx, Frank

Hi Frank,
SSA is just outside of Baltimore if this helps.
I will firm up the numbers when I get the unit. VAS will be large, but it should not have a negative effect on your IB - how "small" is your IB?
Best, Mark
