Hi Mark,
That's great, Baltimore is only about an hour away, hopefully I could just pick them up. That would save on shipping, but on the downside I suppose I'll get stuck with sales tax. Still better than shipping fees!
My IB space (adjacent attic) is only about 7000l, possibly somewhat more if one were to count the connected attic space (the hole between them is just big enough to crawl through). My HT room is about 17'w by 30'l with an 8' ceiling in the center and a kneewall/slanted ceiling on each side, and when I add the cutout in the back and the open stairwell going downstairs (also in back), the volume adds up to about 4000cft.
Since I'm the one who has to fix everything, I don't need earthquake-inducing volume levels, but I want clean, authoritative (low teens) bass with a bit of headroom for safety. I'm hoping that 2 18" drivers with a high Xmax will fit the bill, and at 549l per driver, I'd already be below the recommended 10xVas (7000l vs 11000l), but probably still ok. If I had to move up to 4 drivers, that would put me below the recommended minimum 4xVas (7000l vs 8800l).
Frank

When do you expect to have the new 18's in? have you decided on a price yet for these? They model extremely well.

Mark, any news yet?
Also, pls take a look at my post above regarding my available IB size. A high Vas may not be the way to go for me.
Thx, Frank

Hi Guys,
The proto is on the way. If things pan out, I'll do up an order and have them shipped out. I will ask if SSA can carry them so those of you south of 49 can save a few $$ on shipping.
I'll post snaps and preliminary info once I get it. It could be in by the end of February.
Pricing will be worth the wait...
Best, Mark

Mark,
I'm currently allocating space for 4 of your newer 18 drivers. Are the physical dimensions already set in stone, more or less? If so, could you share what they are? I'm working on my space for these right now.
Thanks,
Jerrin

Hi Jerrin, What's set in stone is that it will be 18 inches round.. The depth may change depending on whether or not adjustments to the motor will have to be done. I won't know that until I work with it. Best, Mark

I'm keeping my IB ideal for an upgrade to a 12" deep driver, Mark. ;D
